Sorption behaviour of maneb in the agriculture soils and its correlation with soil properties

چکیده
Maneb is a broad spectrum fungicide, often reported as a carcinogenic, teratogenic and neurodegenerative agent. Thus, the occurrence of maneb at non-targeted sites is a cause of concern. The present study investigates adsorption– desorption behaviour of maneb in the agricultural soils to know its fate, mobility and availability in the soil. The sorption study was carried out by batch equilibration procedure. Maneb adsorption followed Langmuir isotherm and was accompanied by increase in manganese content of the soil. Maximum adsorption was observed in soil having the highest clay content. High maneb retention was observed in presence of soils modified with organic matter. The results of this study indicate that the clay and organic matter content of soil have significant influence on sorption behaviour of maneb. Amending soil with organic matter can reduce maneb pollution at non-targeted sites. Keywords— Fungicide, Parkinson disease, Manganese, Organic matter

Study of the Phosphorus Sorption Behaviour in the Cultivated and Virgin Soils of Khoy Region
To study the behaviour of phosphorus (P) sorption in the agricultural soils of Khoy region and the effect of long-term cultural management with the application of poultry manure on the P sorption parameters, bath experiments were carried out with 16 soil samples (8 cultivated and 8 virgin soils) and 9 initial P concentrations from 0 to 30 mg L-1 in 0.01M CaCl2 as a background solution. After eq...

This research investigate clayey, lateritic and sandy soils have been selected from agricultural lands in the South-Eastern Nigeria, for their phosphate sorption characteristics using column experiments, in order ascertain the movement of phosphate in the soils. The soil samples were equilibrated in 25ml of 0.01M CaCl2 containing different concentrations of P as KH2PO4 to produce initial conc...
متن کاملComparison of Cadmium Adsorption Behavior in Selected Calcareous and Acid Soils
Cadmium (Cd) concentration in soil solution and its bioavailability is controlled by sorption-desorption reactions. The objective of this research was to compare Cd adsorption behavior in six calcareous and four acid soils. Soil samples were equilibrated with 0.01 M Ca(NO3)2 containing 25 to 3200 mg Cd L−1. Results showed that the tendency for adsorption was high at low Cd concentrations (0-400...

Zinc (Zn) availability and mobility in soils is controlled by its interaction with the soil matrix and amendments. Contradicting evidence has been reported for factors influencing Zn behavior in soils. The aim of this study was to investigate the Zn sorption in selected acid, calcareous and gypsiferous soils with different background electrolytes (Na+, K+ and H2PO4, NO3 and Cl backgrounds). Iso...
متن کاملSorption, degradation and leaching of pesticides in soils amended with organic matter: A review
The use of pesticides in modern agriculture is unavoidable because they are required to control weeds. Pesticides are poisonous; hence, they are dangerous if misused. Understanding the fate of pesticides will be useful to use them safely. Therefore, contaminations of water and soil resources could be avoided. The fates of pesticides in soils are influenced by their sorption, decomposition and m...
